Fürth/Erlangen

Steel for the A3 Steigerwald motorway

A mammoth project with precision

The widening of the A3 motorway between the Biebelried and Fürth/Erlangen junctions is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Germany. With a length of

76 kilometres and the six-lane expansion, the route should not only significantly improve traffic flow, but also road safety. A central

component of this major project is the delivery and installation of up to 38,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel by SÜLZLE Stahlpartner and SÜLZLE Armierungstechnik – a job that requires the highest level of precision and coordination.

Since the start of construction in 2020, the SÜLZLE Group has been working closely with the A3 Steigerwald motorway consortium (consisting of Eiffage Infra Süd and Johann Bunte Bauunternehmung). Since the end of 2023, 19,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel have already been supplied by SÜLZLE Stahlpartner from Dessau-Roßlau. SÜLZLE Armierungstechnik has been responsible for laying

the steel since the beginning.

In 2025 alone, around 10,000 tonnes of steel are to be professionally installed for bridge structures and rainwater retention basins. In addition,

SÜLZLE is supplying shoring supports for all structures on the A3, with over 2,000 tonnes having been installed to date, including more than 1,500 tonnes for hire.

The logistical and technical challenges of this project are immense: the punctual transport of the steel in the highest quality and the precise installation

require precise planning and close coordination between all parties involved. Thanks to the comprehensive
