Reinforcing steel
1,900 tons of reinforcing steel were delivered.
Kronberg in Taunus
The Casals Forum is a unique concert hall and an international meeting place for great masters and young talents from all over the world. The SÜLZLE Stahlpartner site in Dornstetten supplied around 1,900 tons of steel and 125 tons of storage mats and spacers for this unique construction project. Kronberg Academy’s new concert hall is acoustically designed specifically for chamber music. In order to meet the highest acoustic and aesthetic demands, the hall has a “free-form” with curved convex and concave walls that diffuse the sound widely. On the outside, a transparent glass façade establishes the connection between the building and the neighbouring park landscape. The hall will be air-conditioned with an innovative ice storage system and, according to current knowledge, can thus be the first concert hall in the world to be operated CO2-neutrally. The Chamber Orchestra of Europe is the first “Orchestra in residence” at the Casals Forum that can also be used by other ensembles and organizers. The Chamber Music Hall will be the centrepiece of Kronberg Academy’s new building ensemble at Kronberg railway station. An affiliated study center for the Academy’s year-round study operations is also being built there, with classrooms and practice rooms, the Carl Bechstein Hall with 150 seats and a cabinet room with up to 50 seats. Construction began with the groundbreaking ceremony in October 2017, and the opening was in autumn 2022.
