The traditional tunnel tapping ceremony for the Trimberg Tunnel near Wehretal-Oetmannshausen took place on 16 May with the start of tunnelling work. By next summer, space is to be created for the tubes that will form part of the A44 motorway. The Trimberg Tunnel consists of two parallel tunnel tubes, which are connected at two points with cross-passages as escape routes.

The tunnel is 600 metres long, 440 metres of which will be constructed using the mining method. Between January 2017 and June 2019, SÜLZLE Stahlpartner supplied around 3,200 tonnes of reinforcing steel for the open construction method of this project on behalf of ARGE Tunnel Trimberg.
