DKMS – We beat blood cancer
DKMS stands for the German Bone Marrow Donor Centre, which has set itself the goal of finding a suitable donor for every blood cancer patient or enabling access to therapies – not only in Germany, but worldwide. It sees its main tasks in the following points:
– Raising awareness of blood cancers and their treatment
– Registration of potential stem cell donors to save patients’ lives
– Motivating the public and companies to organise registration campaigns
– Raising funds in the fight against blood cancer, for example to finance registration costs and support patients
– Supporting the further development of therapies against blood cancer – through their own research and state-of-the-art technology in our laboratory
– Maintaining a sustainable relationship with our donors from the day of registration
What is DKMS and what does it do?
SÜLZLE KOPF supports DKMS
The following facts show just how important the work of DKMS is:
a patient in Germany is diagnosed with blood cancer
of all blood cancer patients find a suitable donor within the family.
searches in vain for a suitable donor
SÜLZLE KOPF was therefore keen to support the DKMS in two ways:
On 16 December, we took action ourselves and organised a registration campaign for our employees at our company headquarters. Everyone had the opportunity to register as a potential stem cell donor in the international DKMS database during working hours. We are delighted that so many people took up this opportunity and that almost the entire workforce in Sulz a. N. registered.
In addition, SÜLZLE KOPF supported the DKMS with a donation to cover the costs incurred for the registrations and to promote further projects and research.
